HomeLife is a Real Estate organization with a growing technology environment spanning real estate platforms, websites, lead generation, business tools, payments, marketplaces, cloud infrastructure and AI.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Developer to become the senior technical leader within our development team. This is a hands-on position for someone who wants to build, solve problems and make meaningful technical decisions, not simply manage projects or assign tickets.

You will work closely with leadership and our existing team to understand business problems, determine the right technical solution, design and build it, and ensure our systems remain secure, reliable and scalable.

Lead technically, while staying hands-on:

Serve as the senior technical resource across our development environment.
Make architectural and technical decisions for new and existing systems.
Write production code regularly.
Take business problems and turn them into practical technical solutions.
Work across multiple projects and systems without losing sight of priorities.
Review code and establish strong development practices.
Mentor our existing team and help them grow technically and professionally.
Work with contractors and external technology partners to ensure work meets our technical standards.
Explain technical decisions and limitations clearly to non-technical people.

Keep systems secure and reliable:

Help ensure our production systems are secure, stable and properly monitored.
Manage and improve AWS environments supporting our websites and applications.
Understand access control, networking, monitoring, backups, deployments and cloud costs.
Build systems that can be maintained and supported over time.
Help ensure production changes are tested and deployed responsibly.

Requirements:

7+ years of professional software development experience.
Experience taking ownership of a system or significant application and making the technical decisions required to keep it running and evolving.
Experience working with AI for development and production and willingness to incorporate AI into your work.
Experience mentoring other developers and reviewing their work.
Strong ability to understand unfamiliar code and independently determine how it works, where problems are occurring and how to fix them.
Strong experience with:

- Node.js
- PostgreSQL
- MongoDB
- Docker
Experience working with AWS in a production environment, particularly for websites and web applications.
Understanding of cloud infrastructure, deployments, access controls, monitoring, backups and reliability.
Practical understanding of security and privacy principles.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical people.
A collaborative, flexible and open-minded approach to problem solving.

What to expect:

This is a hands on role with leadership responsibilities. This position is ideal for someone with an open business mindset, as well as the ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will work in office Monday - Friday from 9:00 am - 5:30 pm.
