About the Role:

We currently have an opportunity for an in-house Legal Counsel at HomeLife Realty Services Inc. This position will be responsible for providing legal advice across corporate, commercial, franchise, and regulatory matters, drafting and negotiating legal documentation, and supporting compliance initiatives across the organization.
Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership, this lawyer will support operational priorities and strategic business initiatives and, where appropriate, liaise with external counsel on specialized matters. This role offers the opportunity to strengthen legal and business judgment, refine drafting and advisory skills, and contribute meaningfully across a dynamic organization.

- Provide legal advice on corporate, commercial, franchise, and regulatory matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate agreements, corporate documents, policies, and other legal materials.
- Assist with franchise-related documentation, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, briefing notes, and opinion letters.
- Support corporate governance and ongoing regulatory compliance.
- Provide practical legal guidance to internal stakeholders and business leaders.
- Work collaboratively across multiple divisions to support business objectives.
- Identify opportunities to improve legal processes and workflows through technology and efficiency.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:
- LL.B. or J.D. and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Approximately 2 to 4 years of post-call experience in a corporate, commercial, litigation, or regulatory environment.
- Strong legal writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong judgment and the ability to provide practical business-focused advice.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Comfort working with digital platforms and modern legal tools.
- Experience with franchise law, real estate-related matters, or regulated industries is an asset.
